THE MALL

Love Among the Sales Racks

Behind the glamour and glitz of the retail world lies a steamy soap opera of lives and emotions.

In this massive regional shopping center, the Mall staff gels together as a dedicated, overworked and unlikely team with diverse skill sets. They knit their lives and occupations together in a makeshift family. Just like a family, they nurture, quarrel and love each other. Sometimes even flirt with forbidden passions when the boss isn’t looking. Daily they deal with rude customers, irritated advertisers and grumpy store owners. It doesn’t matter what time of the year it is, things are unpredictable like an Easter Bunny on fire or a naked Santa stalker. The roof leaks, promotions backfire and snowplows break down. Then the Food Court sewer backs up. Traffic is at a standstill. That’s just in one weekend! Gang bangers, skateboarders and mall rats only complicate things. Survival depends on thinking fast, a quick fix and lots of duct tape. Through thick and thin, the mismatched Mall staff give customers their best, lose their sanity, yet still have time for fun and Jack Daniels.

The Mall is also a romance story of opposite personalities who find love among the sales racks. Security Director Doug Brooks is a tough, hard-liner keeping the mall safe. According to Doug, a perfect mall is where people file in, buy what they need and leave. The last thing he wants is a promotion enticing people to shop. There’s the rub between Marketing Director Amanda DuBois and Brooks. It’s Mandy’s job to do whatever it takes to bring more customers to the Mall by making their experience rewarding and satisfying. The couple’s constant bickering and stubbornness are a smokescreen covering the intense passion they feel for each other but neither one admits. When Mandy is pursued by a new man who seems like Mr. Perfect, Doug’s jealousy spikes and the competition begins.

The Mall reveals a world few people see. It will leave you wondering if it’s all true the next time you go shopping
